I have always wanted to visit Santa Fe and Taos in New Mexico. Over the years, I have poured over art magazines that boasted of painting workshops and art galleries there. This year we decided to make a short road trip of it before going Colorado to visit family. Following our flight to Albuquerque we rented a car to head north to Santa Fe. Before indulging in our experience of art, culture, and family time, we had “serious business” to attend to before leaving Albuquerque.
We “Breaking Bad” fan freaks (my husband and I) went to the infamous car wash used in the series. It really is a legit car wash establishment with employees buzzing about. We laughed as we pulled into a lot nearby and took pictures. We could not believe it was really there and operational, but it was.
Next we went to the house of the show’s main character “Walter White.” I found the address on Google with advice to avoid disturbing the occupants. No problem. All we wanted to do was see the house and get a picture of it. (I think they could make some bucks if they were willing to give inside tours). When we pulled up, another fan was in the middle of the street taking pictures. We laughed! Here was another fan just like us compelled by the addictive series of “Breaking Bad” and drawn to a “Breaking Bad” filming sight. As we parked down the street to take pictures, we talked to this fellow fan and chuckled about the other sights in the show there were to see in Albuquerque. Just as we were done talking, several more fans pulled up and parked down the street and were taking pictures too. We got a kick out of it.
We stayed down the street for no more than five minutes in our car to take pictures and left. We tried to be discreet. What can I say –“Breaking Bad” was fantastic series! . (I have so many reasons why I think it is so good that I’ll have to write it in another blog!)
